There is a big dichotomy between junior roles and senior roles at private equity firms. Junior roles are really focused on building deliverables. This could be Excel financial models like an LBO. It could be a funds flow model to help close the deal. It could be a PowerPoint presentation to deliver to the investment committee memo. Whereas senior people are much more focused on actually making investment decisions. They're executing on the analysis from those deliverables. Senior roles are also focused on creating external relationships. It's up to the senior people to organize the strategy of the firm. They also look for new deals. The junior person is the one doing the analysis. They are creating all the work that informs the senior people's decisions. In a way, the senior role is almost a completely different job from the junior role. But that's just part of the game.

3. My story
At my current job at an AMC, there is a big dichotomy between the roles. I'm mainly focused on building deliverables for our clients. It's super rewarding but intense! It's up to the senior team to set strategies, while us juniors constantly look for new deals. In a way, our combined efforts are making the company thrive, even if our days look so different.
