Differences Between Canned, Bottled, and Draft Beer

Canned beer is better than bottled beer. You can have the same beer in each of these three different types of packaging, and it may taste different in each one. But why is that? Well, it really comes down to freshness. So when you drink a draft beer, it's been most recently brewed and packaged by the brewery, and it's just gonna taste better. Packaged beer can sit on a shelf for much longer. It's going from a brewery to a distributor to a liquor store and sitting on a shelf. It can be out and sitting warm. If you remember our video on the 3-30-300 rule, you remember that warm beer ages more quickly. It used to be that beer in cans was lower quality and kind of tasted metallic or like aluminum, and this was because the aluminum was actually leaching into the beer. Today, that problem's been solved. Aluminum cans have coatings on them, so this is no longer an issue. They are cheaper and recyclable, and most importantly, cans don't let any UV light in, and bottles do. UV light is really bad for beer. It can create a skunky off flavor, which nobody wants.
