나는 독립적으로 하는 것을 너무 좋아합니다. 그래서 지난 여름에 유럽으로 솔로 여행을 떠났습니다. 어떤 정해진 계획도 없이 매일이 새로운 모험이었습니다. 그냥 마음 내키는 곳에서 길을 멈추었습니다. 호텔 예약조차 하지 않았습니다. 그냥 아무대나 들어가서, 방이 있는지 물어보았습니다.

 

I love being independent, so last summer, I took a solo trip to Europe. With no set plans, each day was a new adventure. I simply stopped wherever I pleased. I hadn’t even booked hotels. I just walked into one and asked if there were any rooms available.

부장님이 나에게 감당이 안되 보이는 어려워 보이는 프로젝트를 맡기셨습니다. 나에게는 너무 과하다고 말씀드릴까 생각했습니다. 그러나 어쨌든 하게 하실 것이라는 것을 알았습니다. 과정에서 여러 번 포기하고 싶었습니다. 하지만, 결과적으로 그것은 많은 것을 배울 수 있었던 경험이었습니다.

 

My boss assigned me a project that seemed challenging. I thought of telling her it was too much. But I knew she was gonna make me do it anyway. I felt like giving up many times along the way. But, it turned out to be a great learning experience.

A: "새로 온 과장님 소식 들었어?"

B: "응, 그 분 꽤 힘들다고 들었어."

A: "그 분 밑에서 일하기가 괜찮을지 모르겠다."

B: "운에 맞겨야지 뭐. 설마 전 과장님보다 최악이겠어?"

A: "맞아, 그걸 버텼는데. 잘되길 바라자구."

 

A: "Have you heard about the new manager?"

B: "Yeah, I heard he’s pretty tough."

A: "I don't know if I want to work under him."

B: "I guess we'll have to take our chances with it. Can't be worse than our last manager, right?"

A: "True, I survived that. Let's hope for the best!"
