Never Book A Hotel Through Expedia Or Priceline

Here's the worst way that I've ever experienced booking a hotel. Number one, if you book with a travel site like Expedia or Priceline, if there is a problem, you cannot deal with the hotel directly because it was booked with a third party. You actually need to use that third party as your method of resolving whatever issue happens. The second reason, you are not able to have your status get honored the same way you would if you booked directly with the hotel. Typically, if you have status, you're entitled to an upgrade. But if you don't book with the hotel directly, they're way less likely to actually give you that upgrade. The third reason, I have a personal story about back in the day. I used third-party sites, and when I showed up to check in, they actually told me they didn't have a room for me. That because I used a third party site, they did not have an obligation to actually reserve and secure a room for me. So if you're going to book travel, especially with hotels, then I highly recommend doing it with the hotel directly.
