내 절친이 내 생일을 잊었고, 화가 났습니다. 하지만 그가 대수롭지 않게 생각해서, 화가 더 났습니다. 정말 혼구멍을 내주고 싶었습니다. 그 다음 날, 그는 진심 어린 사과와 작은 선물로 실수를 만회할려고 노력했습니다. 계속 화내고 있을 수가 없었습니다.
 

My best friend forgot my birthday, and I felt upset. But he didn’t take it seriously, which made me more upset. I really wanted to kick his ass. The next day he tried to make up for it with a heartfelt apology and a small gift. I couldn't stay mad for long.

변화를 위해 머리를 다르게 해보려고 미용실에 갔습니다. 그런데 내가 기대한 대로 나오지 않았습니다. 내 기대가 너무 컸는지도 모르겠습니다. 그래도 그 순간에는 미용사에게 충분히 화를 낼 만하다고 느꼈습니다.
 
I went to a hair shop to get my hair done differently for a change. But it didn't turn out as I'd hoped. I may have expected too much. Still, at the moment I felt I had every right to be mad at my hair designer.

A: I overheard my boss talking about promotions.
B: What did you hear?
A: I heard they're announcing them next week.
B: I hope my efforts pay off.
A: Same here. I've been working hard for that.
