Cities and skylines around the world have lit up as billions of people welcome the start of a new year. Two hours before celebrations got underway in Australia, thousands turned out in Oakland, where fireworks and light shows showed off the city's tallest building. Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor burst into light with the city's largest ever fireworks display. In Beijing, a countdown at the capital steel Park was followed by a vibrant fireworks and light show. At the same time in Taiwan, the famous Taipei 101 sparkled with over 16,000 explosions. This year's celebration in Taipei focused on the theme of a colorful world and a return to normal life in 2024. Large crowds also packed the banks of Bangkok's Chao Phraya River as around 50,000 fireworks flew into the sky as the clock struck 12. And not too long ago, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, exploded into color with fireworks, boasting beforehand that it would be the largest in the world.

3.    My Story
Last year, as my holiday vacation was wrapping up, I found myself at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport as the New Year approached. The airport was lit up, creating a festive atmosphere. As celebrations got underway, people eagerly anticipated the moment. Right as the clock struck 12, the whole place erupted into cheers, with everyone shouting "Happy New Year!" to mark the beginning of the new year. It was a unique and memorable way to celebrate, not too long ago, surrounded by the excitement and joy of travelers from all around the world.
