1.    Script

I want you to watch how his racket gets pushed away from contact on this shot. So, watch how when the ball hits the racket, the racket actually gets pushed by the ball. The ball is coming in this direction, and when it comes in and collides with the strings, then the racket actually gets pushed back towards Roger as his racket continues moving down and out towards the other side of the court. Contrast that with this next volley where he's going to be much more firm. This is a shot that he's finishing a rally with. On this one, watch the difference in how the racket face reacts and how the racquet head reacts. There's much more force; his racket is still moving down and through the point of contact, but because his hand is much firmer and the racket doesn't recoil nearly as much, much more force gets pushed forwards through the point of contact.

2.    Expression

  • Racket gets pushed away from contact: The phenomenon where the tennis racket is pushed backward upon hitting the ball.
  • Racket face reacts: The manner in which the surface of the racket that hits the ball responds during impact.
  • Racquet head reacts: How the top part of the racket, where strings are located, behaves when the ball makes contact.
  • Force gets pushed forwards: The power or energy exerted in a forward direction, especially during a tennis stroke.
  • Racket doesn’t recoil nearly as much: The racket shows minimal backward movement after hitting the ball.
  • Down and through the point of contact: The racket's movement downwards and forward when hitting the ball.

3.    My Story
In my recent tennis lessons, I've been focusing on how the racket reacts to the ball. Initially, my racket would get pushed away upon contact, reducing the force of my shot. My coach showed me videos of professional players, like Roger Federer. I practiced this, ensuring my racket was moving down and through the point of contact with more force. This adjustment made a significant difference in my volleys, allowing me to finish rallies more effectively.
